CT Scan Results American Ideas

So we got the results of my wifes ct scan back, there’s both good and not so good news, first the good news: due to the chemo, the huge tumor is beginning to break up, it is shrinking around her heart , which means she is at a slightly lower risk of heart failure because her heart can pump easier now, the tumor is shrinking around her left lung which lets the lung expand more, which means she can draw in more air and breathe easier, the tumor is shrinking away from her esophagus, which means she can swallow easier and not choke when she is eating food or drinking liquids, her liver kidneys, stomach , bones and blood are all cancer free and healthy.

Now for the not so good news : she has 2 bad embolisms on her main artery in her right lung, which means if it bursts she will drown in her own blood, she can’t do any exertive activities such as vacuuming , any lifting, walking for extended periods etc, not much physical activity as she has to keep calm and relaxed so as not to over work that artery.

since the main tumor is shrinking the doctors for the first time see behind it and they found multiple little tumors in her lungs, and a very bad blood clot is still in her right lung though it is slowly dissolving thanks to the Fragmin (blood thinner) injections that she takes once per day.

Sadly there is no cure, the best that the doctors can do is extend her life, by how long is unknown yet, as it stands they bought her another 6 months for now, I watched the news where a doctor in the United States injected a stage 4 (end stage) cancer patient with the measles virus, enough to infect 15 million people , and it cured her cancer, I hope and pray that they fast track this doctors research, up here in Canada our doctors often consult the Mayo clinic in the USA and other major cancer centers in the USA,not because our doctors don’t have a clue, they do, they are among the worlds best, they consult the American doctors because in the USA there is more research and development in the fight against cancer, more funding for research and most often the major breakthroughs happen in the USA before anywhere else.

I also read a small number of Cancer related blogs and quite often the writers will mention the use of Cannabis oil , something I want to discuss with my wifes doctors, I don’t know if it will help but in the blogs I read the folks swear by it, for my wife’s sake I feel it is worth looking into, I have no clue if the Cannabis oil is injected or how it exactly works, I know next to nothing about it except for what I have read in other blogs, this is something I will research before speaking to the doctor, I would at least like to have a half assed working knowledge of what the hell I am talking about before sitting down with them.

Wednesday we go back to the Allen Blair Cancer center to figure out the next step in my wife’s treatments, whether it’s more chemo or some other treatment is what we will find out then, as of now this minute, my wife is feeling good and is happy and is optimistically looking towards her future, while I remain cautiously hopeful, I am more of a realist than her, I don’t plan too far ahead, my wife has been very very close to death twice in the last 5 months, I have no delusions that she will be miraculously cured , I just take it one day at a time, it’s the only way I know how to deal with all this.

Well I guess that’s all for now, I will write more after wednesday when I know more , til then, never take tomorrow for granted, express your love often and be kind to others.Peace be with you all .

The Results of my wife’s CT Scan

So we went to our family Doctor today for the usual refilling my wife’s medications and to get the results of the ct-scan she had Tuesday, it’s both bad and good news.

First the good news, the cancerous tumor in her left lung has shrunk a little bit from her chemo, the bad news is it most likely will not shrink any more. on the flip side at least it hasn’t grown.
As for her right lung, the tumor remains the same, neither growing nor shrinking.

The good news… the artery she had repaired by having a coil inserted, is working fine and the huge bulge is gone.

The bad news… her massive blood clot remains unchanged even on the high dose of Fragmin, the clot is neither breaking up or dissolving as hoped.

For now (the next couple months) there will be no more chemo, she has had 6 rounds and is at the limit, the doctors say her body must rest and recover from the chemo. Where does that leave us? what is the next step? … Those are the million dollar questions and we won’t have the answers to either question until next Wednesday morning when I take her to the Cancer Center to meet with her oncologist, hopefully he has some sort of plan at that time.

It’s the unknowns, the what if’s and the waiting between appointments that are hard on me, and to a degree her as well, though she doesn’t stress and worry as much as I do, for her each day is a blessing and each day she feels good is divine, as long as she feels no pain and can be Mom to our son she is content.

Well that’s all for tonight, I’m off to watch a spectacular lightening show and to listen to the big sharp rolling Boomers.

Remember folks, express your love often, never take tomorrow for granted, and be kind to others.
